Hello!

I was searching the internet for a long time, but can't find an answer to my question: was there a 4x4 Sprinter models produced by Mercedes (not by other companies like Iglhaut, Mantra, etc...). If it was, what kind of 4x4 was used: low gear, fulltime, part time, viscous,...

And another one: what is the model name for the shortest Sprinter, like this:

I know this is Mantra, but I'm interesting what is a model number for Sprinter with the same body.

P.S. I do not know German, please reply in English.

P.P.S. I hit wrong key when inserting image, so my message comes in two parts. Sorry...

With best regards,
Sergey.

As far as i know, al sprinters are named ''sprinter'',
and there's no add like sprinter S, or sprinter XL.
Whem you buy one, you just ask for the short, long or extra large wheelbase.
The other thing is that you can see what kind of engine
and max load a sprinter can have, and that is
the sign in the grille, like: 210, 212, 310, 312,
410,412, and so on.
So on a 312 you got a 3 ton van, with a 120hp engine.

the standard 4x4 sprinter is produced by mercedes themself in their own factory. they use parts for the frontwheel drive and gearing from oberaigner ( austia). you can order as a permanent 4x4 or select drive and with or without diff lock for the rear axle. another option is a 2 speed transfer case with a reduction of 1:1,5. A manual gearbox or sprintshift are available, but no automatic box.
Iglhaut and all the others use a complete other drivetrain concept and different axles. Iglhaut for instance use a toyota transfer case and stronger axles. these vehicles are modified by Iglhaut or mantra using a finished van.

there is no modspec other than the wheelbase and roof hight for the sprinter body. however you can order cab chassis, van or bus type bodies.

hope i got everthing

greetings
